happy young woman with halfs of orangeIn the spirit of relationship-based networking and promotion that I just talked about, I am happy to share info on the contest my buddy Kristie T is promoting called Doing Business in Your Bathrobe.

I have to admit that some days, I am so groggy from late night emailing that I begin my work day in my PJs.  But I don’t recommend it — after about an hour of working in my jammies, I tend to feel like a gigantic sloth and hightail it into the shower.  It always feels vaguely scandalous to be having a professional conversation on the phone with crazed hair and fuzzy slippers.

That said, even though I don’t like to hang out all day in my jammies, I am happy that I can if I want to.  Such are the perks of home-based entrepreneurs.

Here is what Kristie says about the event:

“Doing Business in Your Bathrobe Day is coming on February 12th, 2007 – a day to celebrate the freedom of owning your own home business! This holiday was established to recognize the hard work and dedication it takes to be an entrepreneur.

It’s an international holiday to call attention to the millions of home business owners who have waved goodbye to the corporate rat race and settled into a better quality of life.

We felt it was high time to recognize the efforts and dreams of entrepreneurs.

And I’m excited to share that already one mom has gotten a TV story for her business from it. Tracy Ebert, from Virginia, already sent out the local press release and got calls from one TV station, a print publication, one online resource! Way to go Tracy!

  • Get your local press release (Pam’s note:  no, it’s not in the Social Media format!) for Doing Business in Your Bathrobe here to get publicity for YOUR business

There is nothing wrong with having a little fun, especially if it garners some positive PR for your company.  So if this kind of thing floats your boat, please do participate!

Consider this competition duly promoted on our homeworking website at http://www.enterprisenation.com

I am hoping there is no restriction to PJ-wearing Brits applying?!

  2. Thank Pam for posting this. 90% of the time I shower and dress. But in those days when I need a little extra comfort, it’s nice to hang out in PJs and a robe.

And if anyone needs a new one, our Sponsor InternationalRobes.com has some really plush ones. I got their new waffle robe this year. I think having a nice comfy robe is like the ultimate pampering tool. It’s the grown up version of “the blankie”.

And, when it’s a really cold Chicago day, sometimes I put my bathrobe on OVER all my clothes just to keep warm.

Here’s to the freedom of being able to work in your PJs and bathrobe if you want to.

  3. I, too, am perpetually in my pajamas. Must get dressed!:-)

I’ve found I can’t do it! Work in my jammies I mean. I’ve had to get an office away from home. I need the separation of home & work, I’ve found.

I too went from being a road warrior to robe warrior. I used to “dress to the nines” for sales calls. Now I just try to be dressed by nine.

Wow, after reading this, I got a call from one of my customers…and I’m still in my pajamas!
